I don't live in Queens, but I'm not too surprised by any of this. The less homogenous a neighborhood becomes, the less neighbors trust each other. They have done studies on this. Queens is one of the most diverse places on earth so of course there will be tensions. Fortunately there is no majority immigrant group, like they have in the Southwest (Mexicans) otherwise it could become a big problem.

However to some degree this article seemed like it was just stirring the pot. For instance I had thought that Carona was majority hispanic for a while? I thought that had started to change way back in the 1970s/1980s from being an Italian neighborhood to a Hispanic one.

There is no need for fear mongering in this city. We all have enough problems without the press stirring up trouble.

This article is from 1992.

Why are you bothering to post it? And trying to say it's from this year?

Ridiculous.

I'm sorry you're right it is from 1992! That's dumb. I'll try to delete it.

Ha! I did not notice the date. I was just going to say, that sound it like too much crime problems and to much negativity going on in that one article. It did sound like something from the early 90's. How time has change.
