It is, there are a few killer courses though. Advanced Accounting, Tax, and Auditing are the hardest.

Indeed, it's more research, tax laws, journal entries, etc. However if you suck at math, accounting will suck for you.

First position was with OCEC as a Financial Auditor with ONLY a BioChemistry degree believe it or not. Received Accounting Degree 36 months later and within three months of graduating received offer from a Managed Care Consortium in Atlanta as a Revenue Cycle Analyst then promoted to Director. I ended up resigning after months of hospitalization. Decided to move back to New York and arrived the following week on a Tuesday, interviewed with one place and was hired Thursday as the Accountant for a private/accredited college in NYC. An Accounting Degree is not as hard as people make it out to be. It's relatively simple but can be EXTREMELY tedious.

Taking Advanced Accounting right now and it's rough, but I found Statistics to be much harder.

The Accounting Degree/courses is just the base. But if you wanna go deeper there is a lot more room to specialize and this is where it gets much harder. The CPA exam is a beast.

It's been said the CPA is harder than the Bar exam.

I'm aiming for my CFE, getting my degree in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination now. Just learned that my school no longer offers the Masters program for it, so I may have to transfer after next year.

You are correct. But was just advising poster in regards to original post to pursue an Accounting Degree. Getting the degree is relatively easy but YES, the CPA exam is tough. FAR is nerve wrecking and even though REG is shorter, I've seen a tons of people get their lowest score on that part.

Trust me its NOT. Also you arent using a lot of math in it to begin with. Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. That's it.

Have you ever thought about a graduate degree in accounting. I have a friend who did the MAC Program at UNC, he'll finish in September. It was only a 15 month online program. My other friend is doing the online 24 month option. It may be worth looking into.

Why a MAC degree? - Master of Accounting Program - UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School
