Hi everyone,

I been working for less than 3 months. I am looking forward to move in less than a year
to a new apartment for myou wife and I. In the meanwhile I am temporary staying in a house which is confortable and have pretty much everything I need.

Since I am the only one working at this moment, what possibilities I have to move into an apartment which both my spouse and I feel comfortable and by confortable I mean not being in a studio?

I live in Brooklyn and so far my experience have been good: fast commuting, very centric and many places to buy food.

What would I be aiming for?

Annual salary? That is documented annual salary before taxes. Landlords usually want to see that you make 40x the rent amount. Therefore, if the apartment is $2000/mo, they will want to see proof that you make $80,000/year.

How much you make so we know what you can afford. What things you want in your neighborhood, desire commute time from your job to your apartment, schools if that applies, ect

Hi again,

Sorry for the delay...

My wife and I work part-time so the annual salary before taxes must be something around 30K.

I know the rent here is very expensive, I would like to know if I have a better chance applying for a NYCHA in order to have a payment I can manage.

30K each or 30K total?

If 30k total then totally start applying for NYCHA along with lottery apts if you qualify and have good credit.
