You think I make these stories up? So I just created up, out of thin air, this shooting in the Bronx? So shootings don't happen in the Bronx? I'm trying to keep the Idaho transplants, who come on this website asking if it is a good idea to take a 3 bedroom for $500 a month in the South Bronx, well informed about the dangers of certain areas in New York. To act as if certain boroughs/neighborhoods are somehow as safe as other areas would be actually lying and putting others in harms way. My apologies if my brutal honesty offends any of you. This is what we call America. You have the option to not click on my threads. Again, if my honesty is not in agreement with your thinking I am not putting a gun to your head and telling you to click on my threads. You don't need to click on them.
Have a splendid night!
Cut it out - I can't remember the last time a crime of this nature happened in Van Cortlandt Park. Riverdale and Kingsbridge are among the safest areas in the Bronx.

MidWestern cities like Chicago have extremely high murder rates per capita. You can't assume that just because someone is from the MidWest that they are unfamiliar with hood issues. Perhaps they lived in a rough area back home. States like New Hampshire (New England I know) have very high rates of heroin usage.
Just because someone isn't from the biggest city doesn't mean that they haven't already experienced the issues that are in the Bronx.
Yeah good point, some of the roughest cities in the country are in the Midwest.
Number one I doubt you're Asian. Number 2 while some parts of NYC are definitely rougher than others, the reality is transplants move to those places because it's all they can afford in NYC. To live in a so called "good", "safe" neighborhood will cost a fantastic amount of money. It's money that most transplants don't have, so they have no choice but to consider places like the South Bronx.
