but i believe wealth distribution are cyclical political trends. if you analyze the % of evangelical protestants in this country, it was 69% in 1948. it has since shrunk to 38% in 2015 with a large % of former protestants leaving and now identifying as non-religious. protestants represented the large % of the american middle class after ww2 up to the 80's and 90's. to the rest of the world, this demographic was the shining example of american prosperity. however, in the past 2 decades, we have seen the dwindling down of the middle class, many forced into the working class, poverty, disenfranchised and disillusioned by the globalist system run by the leftist elite.
reasons for the dwindling #'s of protestants are many, but one important sociopolitical shift was the identification that religious spirituality could be an economic disadvantage to one's life. political correctness emerged, and conservative protestants could no longer express in their former ways, lest you lose your job and security. a whole new set of social rules emerged to favor progressives and leftists. many found the old protestant doctrines of doing the right thing, forgiveness, helping the unfortunate, or keeping a fair even playing field for all as a handicap to their very livilhoods. this last economic cycle culminating in the financial crisis was the first recession where nobody went to jail. the elite were bailed, and given even more leverage, whereby widening the wealth divide.
the elite in this country certainly did not achieve their wealth from fairness, but via globalist policies that benefited the very few, deleveraged the majority of american citizens and profited through transfer of investment and dollars abroad. this is why many people resent the wealthy in this country that is supposed to stand for capitalism. many feel their wealth was a function of theft, and we now see a huge political paradigm shift happening right now as a mass reaction. it's brexit, it's trump, it's nationalism.. so the gears have shifted and are now in motion. whoever may have profited most past 20 years, may not necessarily do so going forward, next 20 years.
