When many people think of a NY ghetto they usually think of the stereotypical dense neighborhood filled with high rise tenements and housing projects, or even 2 family houses.
The Hole- a hidden subsection of East New York Brooklyn. East of Eldert Lane, between Linden Boulevard and the Conduit. Several blocks east of Cypress projects, north of the pink houses, and immediately east of Linden plaza. With its deserted streets, abandoned homes, and whole blocks of vacant lots, it resembles a Detroit neighborhood more than anything in NY. The area often gets flooded very easily even thru the slightest rain storms, it is said to be built on top of a swamp. It is where the "federation of Black cowboys" originated. The majority of its population is black american, but has smaller numbers of Rican/Dominican, afro Caribbean, and Indian/indo caribbean people, groups common in the rest of East NY.
Harding Park- a even more hidden area, a subsection of Soundview Bronx. South of Gildersleeve Avenue, overlooking the East river. acouple blocks southeast of Soundview park, and SW of Pugsley creek park. Its streets resemble a Caribbean ghetto, especially those in San Juan or Santo Domingo, filled with dense Caribbean looking shacks. The vast majority of its residents are of Puerto Rican descent, tho there are many Dominicans and blacks. Alot of its ppl came to the area straight from PR or are puerto Rico born and briefly lived in another NY neighborhood before moving to the area.
