In NYC right now but just gotta letter to choose which city to choose for a job anywhere in NY State (Civil Service job after 6 years! LOL)
I am tired of NYC, but would like a place of
- good public transportation,
- a lot of people,
- some night life singles etc
want to own a home or apt. but hate driving but ok with it.
Get used to driving if you plan to move out of NYC and still be in the USA. Driving isn't so bad. At least you have a place to put your stuff. You will start to realize it's the way first world citizens should live.
I would definitely rule out Buffalo...Winters are too brutal with endless copious lake effect snow. Same for Rochester.
Albany is dull...I dated a guy there years ago, didn't like it.
So that leaves Happauge. Downside is probably the highest home prices of the cities you chose. Get a nice Summer home on FIre Island and live the good life..
Alas, all your choices involve driving...I hate it too.
Albany's a real crap hole. If you can stand winter, then Buffalo is actually not a bad place, housing is cheap, plus it is not a long trip to Toronto for true big city entertainment. If you can't, that only leaves Hauppaugue, but then you will need a car, and housing is not the cheapest.
