What is the best matinee movie theater in Queens? I ask in terms of seats, screen, sound, crowd, etc. I find myself with time on my hands and so does my wife, and there are certain movies that don't call for an IMAX experience. What do y'all say?

Atlas Park is a pretty easy and relaxing experience. Not big and overwhelming.

AMC in Fresh meadows. Half price before noon and they have preferred seating with the reclining leather seats.

Just took a quick look and neither of these is near a subway. Any suggestions for anything accessible via subway?

Second the recommendation for Fresh Meadows. My wife and always go here. Matinee is the way I go. If you are up for taking a bus from the train, you can grab the Q30 from Sutphin Ave and Archer Avenue. Bus drops you right in front.

The Midway Theater on Queens Blvd. in Forest Hills is right next to the 71st Ave/Continental express stop of the E/F trains as well as the local trains M/R and has 9 shows/theaters.

Also there is the Astoria Kaufman theater near the M/R local Steinway Blvd. subway stop. It is an even bigger multiplex theater than the Midway one (which is much more compact).

The Q29 bus stops right in front of the Atlas Mall.....which is a beautiful mall in a nice area.
