it irks me when people brings up race is the only reason why this case is in the spotlight.
Race (white)
Gender (female)
Age (under 40)
Looks (generally attractive)
Yes that's the media jackpot. Now compare this to the gang rape story in Brownsville which turned out to not be rape and see how the entire neighborhood and blacks as a race were immediately put on trial in the thread on this forum compared to this one and you may get a clue...

no worries....Rev. Al Sharpton and BLM will come & close down Brooklyn Bridge for their own media jackpot
I do question if this case would get so much attention on this forum or in the media if the individual involved was different (perhaps a male for example instead of a female)? I mean plenty of innocent people are killed daily in NYC, and yet they don't get this much attention, and people keep pointing out how "pretty" she was as if that really matters? Seems shallow and superficial to me. In other words if she was an "ugly" female, there wouldn't be as much coverage or concern?
That was a wild guess on my part but I think the father knew something was seriously wrong more than just her being an hour late. I agree with what you wrote which I put in bold. The mother's speech sounded to me like she knew who she was addressing. It sounded personal.
I agree.
A lot of strange coincidences, father's back pain preventing him from jogging with his daughter, the night she gets killed, the breakup with her boyfriend 2 days ago, the father finding the body in a 2 hours' jogging perimeter, 15 feet off the jogging path, exactly there?? I wonder if they used police dogs that circling in on the spot? I doubt.
And yes, mother's almost personal address to the killer! I wonder whom she meant when she emphasized "I promise you WE will find you?" Yes, Sopranos come to mind.

There definitely would not be as much media coverage if she were a plain jane or unattractive. Anyone who disputes that is living in la-la land.

It's not the only reason but it is one of the main reasons. How much coverage is there when black and hispanic women are raped and killed or disappear?
