BG is a hot mess but I don't really blame them. The amount of **** they have to put up with is incredible. Between pressure from the city, pressure from applicants, and pressure from developers...

Yes, but they make an incredible number of stupid mistakes, and ignore important documents--that's what's the worst. I can forgive mistakes but not completely ignoring documents that would support a different conclusion. It also has a bigger staff than most of these organizations, so there's really no excuse for such blatant incompetence. I know some people had good experiences, and my ulcer-inducing (ok, exaggerating here, but only a little) experience was likely the result of the intake person I was unfortunately assigned to. I'll go through the motions again with this lottery but don't care that much anymore.

Don't forget that everyone there is underpaid to the point that they would qualify for most of these lotteries if they weren't ineligible for working for BG.... they need to hire more competent people and pay them better.

Agreed, and I try to keep that in mind, but I don't think that's an excuse to do the job so poorly.

Hi everyone

I ended up signing a lease at 225 East 39 Street this week!!!!

I'm still not sure what the heck is going on at Copper, my file has again been with HPD for a few weeks and still no word from them... I was offered an apartment at E 39 which is an amazing building, and a like the location a lot more so did not hesitate.

Good luck to all of you I hope you all hear from them soon. They seem to still be reaching out for new intake interviews so if you have a high log number and your file has been processing for a few months I think you have a great shot at eventually landing an apartment.

CONGRATULATIONS, LADYGAGA1!! I'm so happy for you! When do you move in? Was the lease a standard rent stabilized lease? Did they say anything about future income checks etc? Anyway, I'm thrilled for you! And thank you for all your help and input in this thread!

BG had me update documents the other week. Then I tried to get them to have me in to recertify before I went out of state for two weeks. They didn't, so I will be signing on Aug 15 and my updated file won't go back to HPD until then. Meanwhile I am here in LA at my mom's and considering when to throw in the towel and just move to her garage/studio with my 3 year old. I can't afford another month of my current rent in NY. And yet i've waited so long for the lottery apt and seem so close...
