In Jamaica, Hollis, and Queens Village for many years there have been livery cabs picking up street hails on Jamaica Avenue. As long as they have room, they keep picking up passengers in already occupied cabs. The drivers are a menace and cut off other cars with regularity, speed up and change lanes without signaling, come to sudden stops in the middle of the road, pass on the right and do many other dangerous maneuvers. There is no police enforcement on them. Apparently the police have decided to ignore these illegal taxis, but why do they not enforce traffic laws on their reckless driving? It's like a third world country on Jamaica Avenue from Jamaica to Queens Village.
Just not worth it for them to chase after these drivers v.s employing people to take them down.
Plus people towards the end of the boroughs like Brooklyn South and Jamaica and etc.. people would rather have flat fares than taxi meters for a majority of the time.

I agree that those livery cab drivers drive like crap. The police should cite them more.
