I'll be visiting NYC mid October. I'm a big baseball fan & my team could be in the playoffs. I'll be leaving home around 12-1 so it's possible that I hit traffic and don't make it to Staten Island (where I'm staying) until after 7-8 (or later).
If that happens I'm going to want to find a place on the Island to watch the game. If I arrive at the time I hope to I'll have enough time to take the ferry over to Manhattan.
So that leads to two questions:
1. Any sports bars preferably Tompkinsville area (or 5-10 minute drive) that would offer a good environment. Good food would be a plus. Worse case scenario I can always eat somewhere else but just don't want to miss the game.
2. Sport bars in Manhattan that provide a good atmosphere? When I say good atmosphere I guess what I mean is not super crowded to the point where you have to stand up but also plenty of tV's so no matter where you're at you can probably see the game.
Play sports bar in Annadale is Annadale is a true sports bar and is about 25 minutes by train from Tompkinsville via the SIR which is free. It's less hassle than commuting to Manhattan if your only concern is watching the game. Come off the train and Play is right there.
If you go to any generic non-sports bar, they may or may not have the MLB playoffs on. I've found most NY fans only follow the Mets or Yankees, it's not like the NFL where people watch out of town games regardless of rooting interest.

Thanks for the reply. I'd have my car with me so I'd probably prefer to drive there just to avoid having to think about which train to take etc. I always seem to get confused and worried that I get on the wrong train.
Is it a bad drive from Annadale area from Tompkinsville? thanks again
Btw. I am a Dodgers fan so it's not like I'm going to be watching the Blue Jays or Cardinals. Last time I went to Citi Field there were A LOT of Dodgers fans so I know they exist in the NYC area.
I actually know of a bar in Manhattan that has a Dodger fan base but I'm not sure I'll have time to get there on Thursday night if we arrive late.
Manhattan:
Harlem Tavern, 116th, Fred Douglass Blvd
Social, 8th Avenue, 48th Street
Mudville: Chambers, between Church and Bway (crowded, but best wings in NY)
