no i dont live there but im there a lot.
i took these in the morning, and housing cleans the building in the morning thats why it looks so clean.
in the evening you may find some potato chip bags in the lobby or something like that. or once in a while people are too lazy to bring their garbage to the dumpster so they just put the garbage bag on the elevator. but hey what do you expect its the pjs.

It's always nice to see late model $25-40,000 SUV/cars parked outside of the projects.

These projects could be quite nice with resurfacing of the walls (instead of the tile), resurfacing of the elevators, new flooring, new lighting (and fixtures), and some fresh paint...and violah....middle income/affordable housing! Of course the facade would have to be upgraded also..nonetheless..its quite doable.

Ah, Hammel Houses. Nice view of the ocean, dangerously low jumbo jets on their final approach with their deafening engine noise(Concorde ran right above my friend's building every Sun. morning, around 9:30, can't hear yourself when that thing flew) and the gathering of your local chapter of the Crips, or is it the Bloods? I don't remember, it's been a while since I've been down there, but there's a heavy flag presence around there.

I guess you right. And like you said, some are worse than others.

concordes don't fly anymore, do they?
and its not as wild as it used to be, they did a huge gang bust recently. actually on my side of the projects its pretty calm, by project standards. like you said you havent been there in a while. its actually calmed down a lot. and the cops did about 3 raids here in the past month and a half.....arrested a lot of people.

I have noticed significant changes in the housing projects..they are much quieter than they have been in the last 30 years....they are still full of litter in and around them..but even that has abated somewhat. They certainly better maintained now, landscaping etc, and the people are better....they still have a ways to go though..but significant inroads have been made in my opinion.
