Anyone ever applied for jobs on NYC.gov?

I applied early this month on NYC.gov and to the MTA. Both have systems where you can log in and view the status of your application.

I'm sure it's taking a while because its a government position and also because its the holidays. My question for anyone that has applied before is will it change the status to declined or something similar if they feel you are not a correct fit or will I just never hear back?

You will only hear back from someone if they move forward with your application. Otherwise, it'll eventually change to "declined" or something of that nature. Best of luck!

Thank you! Exactly what I wanted to know. Just making sure I will see something happen either way even if declined so I'm not constantly wondering.

Don't bet on getting a callback, there was an article recently that NYC Gov't has way more "Available positions" than they intend to ever fill.

They do it as a way to show "they saved x amount of dollars" at the end of the year by not filling these roles (that they never intended to anyway)
