By the way, I live in Montana....so I will be in for some serious culture shock! Ha ha! I have been to NYC several times, but it's a been a while.......and that was before I became such a serious student of Spanish.....so I didn't really appreciate all that NYC has to offer.

I suggested Corona over Jackson Heights because Corona is more solidly Spanish-speaking. Jackson Heights has some pockets where you will mostly hear Spanish, but overall Jackson Heights is very diverse. It claims 167 languages are spoken.
So if you head to Jackson Heights for this adventure, you should research which specific area to go. I would suggest going in the higher numbered streets, like 88th St. up to Junction Blvd. If you go in the lower numbered streets (73rd St. through 87th) you could end up in some gentrified places like Espresso 77, or Spanish-speaker owned businesses that do most of their business in English due to the diversity of the clientele (like Rico Tinto), or a Tibetan/Indian/Bangladeshi place.
I did recently go to a Colombian bar on Northern Blvd around 87th or 88th St. where one person in my group (none of us Spanish speakers) had to dust off his rudimentary Spanish in order to get the waiter to understand his order.

People really just throw that out nowdays huh? The man clearly needs help finding a "Safe Latino Neighborhood" he wouldn't be asking if he didn't think Latino neighborhoods are mostly dangerous. Who is the racist here?
