What are some great first date ideas for people in their 30s in the city?

I've been researching this but I'm having trouble.

How much are you looking to spend?

I don't have any budget limitations. So I'm pretty open.

But then again, I don't think it would be wise to spend 2 grand on a first date. It would look bad and give her the wrong idea.

So to answer your question, whatever is average or normal.

Go to the clinic with your date and having you and your date getting checked out for stds. To be honest, that add the best date I ever had.

Wow, very helpful responses here (can you see that I am being ironic here). Now, on a serious note, provided that weather is nice, then the Cloisters is a great first date idea, if not that, then a cool museum, or an Escape room game. I would rule out restaurant-too cliché, plus, it's awkward, I can always spot people on the first date at a restaurant, they are either too into each other or, on their phones waiting for it to end. Movie is also not a good idea, you can't really connect during it.

Drinking and painting event (never been but friends that have say it's fun)
Bowling (yes, I'm serious)
Roller skating or ice skating (again, serious)
Escape room game (2 person version)
Wine tasting class or mixology class
Immersive theater (And Then She Fell, Sleep No More)

Basically any activity that is engaging, silly, or fun. Something I read once said that activity based dates help get endorphins going and build chemistry. Also if you "are not that into each other" the activities will be a good distraction from the date being too boring.

The high line. See the city from a different perspective, open air (weather permitting), as long or short a stroll as you feel, with lots of opportunities to eat or drink along the way.
