No, that scenario does not hold water.

Tourism revenue goes to those who cater to tourists. The evidence that the increase in their tax payments as a result of their extra tourist sales goes into the public coffers is miniscule to absent.

The corporations that benefit from tourism very likely pay little or NO taxes.

It's amazing how little you know but yet you post so much misinformation.

According to the city: NYC Statistics - / nycandcompany.org

Total taxes generated by visitor spending in 2014: $10.5 billion
Each New York City household benefited by an average of $1,775 in tax savings as a result of travel and tourism

I repeat,

Extra tourism adds not a single penny to my income.

SOMEBODY might be getting an extra $41 BILLION but is not me. How about you? Are YOU getting any of the $41 billion?

What a rude little mindless **** you are. The word begins and ends with a "t." See if you can work it out.

It helped you to keep an average of $1775 per year in your pockets instead of having to pay it through higher taxes.

Furthermore, I don't know what occupation you have, but there is usually an indirect way the tourism dollar benefits you (unfortunately). You just don't know it.

If you can't understand that, then there's nothing left say.

First of all, I did not call you any names but yet here you resort to name calling. I wonder who the "rude little mindless **** " really is.

I generally enjoy your contribution here. This is one of the worst statement yet. Very short sighted.

Sort of I thought he lived in Jersey City until he retired in some sort of Mitchell Lama or rent controlled apartment on the UES so he's never had to pay NYC income taxes nor property tax like the rest of us. I'd say instead of increasing our taxes/water bills, etc due to any possible decrease in tourist revenue let's hit the non tax payers where it hurts most by increasing the cost of bus/subway rides.

The more tourism there is, the more money hotels and museums have to spend on construction. That means more work for me (im in construction). So while I can't directly measure how I benefit, I know I do indirectly.
