The coasts can rack up immense debt as long as they can service it plus interest. And yes, they have reason and means to cut off the rest of the country if they feel they are not getting enough representation. They will still be rated investment grade in the event so nothing will be lost.

Except things aren't going that well in the coasts either.

If it weren't for various social welfare programs NYC would have blown up a long time ago.

Of course there were Trump supporters in the coastal states as well. Much of NYS voted Trump. It's really NYC that determines the elections.

And that's all fine and dandy, but the blue leaning coasts have to realize that they are privileged, and not where they are today because they are smarter or work harder. The pretentiousness has to end. They owe more to America than the inland red states do. Time to stop the greed, and give back. Before it gets ugly.

If it were bad enough, their credit ratings would be downgraded to junk just like russia, turkey and Venezuela. Since these ratings have stayed high investment grade for generations, it means things are in the end steady as she goes. Those who cannot reconcile with the values and policies of the coasts are welcome to leave. Nothing will be lost if they do.

The attitudes of liberals has already suffered a fatal blow due to the election, and wait till next year when Congress and the President go over the budget. The educational bureaucracy will be axed, and a number of social welfare programs will be axed. With the loss of government funding there goes the coalition which sustained liberalism. It's dead.

No one's going anywhere.

Trump is the President, the Republicans control Congress, and that's that. Oh, and there's Republican control of the courts.

The people who are not going anywhere know they can't find a better deal than the coasts, which is why they stay despite being disagreeable with certain aspects pertaining local values. So republicans control the white house and congress but after many years of trying, they have not translated this to better financial advantages for their states.
