I have been hearing cases of East New York gentrifying.

Is this true?

I keep hearing that since it is so far away from the main attraction parts of NYC, that it would never gentrify. But there are cases I have heard where it starting to gentrify.

I have even heard of cases where real estate developers are coming into the neighborhood and harassing owners into selling the properties. I am hearing that the residents are getting very angry at this situation.

Does anyone see East New York gentrifying? Does anyone think it will ever gentrify?

I hope it gentrifies like East Los Angeles has.

YES! NEW YORK'S Next hotspot is located in a section of ENY where you can smell your own farts, administered by your own Doctor and Anesthesiologist, with tubes that are not made of plastic but the intestinal insides of refugee pigs from across all ponds. Get your color pencils sharpened for the all night adult-coloring book marathon ready! Curious George, Mr. Belvedere, and ALF can't wait for your snifforific emplorium.

Seriously... no. why should it? Make it a nicer place for people to live, but don't turn it into another donkey show that the chirruns from China and Ohio want to make their 5th-6th-and 7th senior year of college.

Is it getting more expensive? Yes. Is it gentrifying? Not really.

There are developments currently going on in East New York and Cypress Hills, especially along the Atlantic Ave.

Short Answer Yes, with the expansion of Gateway center mall and more "Condo" like apartments being built. Especially in the area closest to the A line. I expect it to be completely different in 5 years or so. Gentrification just keeps going deeper and deeper into Brooklyn.

Does anyone think Brownsville could be next? Or does anyone think it will never happen?

Tried to buy a three family in east New York as an investment property. They wanted 799k. Once people in that area can't afford the new rent and housing, it's a set up for gentrification because it only attracts new people into the neighborhood.

This comment made me laugh.

I was about to say "this is what's happening where I live too" (north east harlem), at least until last year, but now we are getting a whole foods, so that's pretty legit...
