I called dcas and they told me only 25 were hired. 157 were cleared from the backround investigation but not hired.

I wonder if they would let you have a second job... You know ... Since the salary is so low

I also got the package, I was also wondering what's the daily work load over there. I'm ready to finish my application as soon as next week and then i have an appointment with the investigator January 10.

if it doesnt cause conflict of interest, there wouldn't be problem in private section.. i think having 2 city jobs would fit too since Investigator position is 24/7 position, maybe person could work that on weekends.

Candidates who received the package in the mail asking you to fill out those paperwork are only to ensure you qualify for the title before they certify the list. Once the list is certify and when they are sure that you qualify for the Investigator title, then you will be put on the list. DCAS doesn't know how long it will take to get to call you, all depends on how many agencies need with the title. At this point, there's no guaranteed of you will be offer a job.

That's generally the case, but from time to time you might see DCAS decided to extend the list number for another year or two.

Agencies are using the 1 and 3 rule. So they can have 157 people who are eligible but only have 10 spots to place them. So if u not what they looking for you not hired and get place back in the pool and have to wait again. It's a waiting game. They have 4 years or they may extend the list. But you never know where u going to be in life. It may work out it may not. Atleast if you take more test you have a better change if someone calling you with an offer
