The people at Breaking Ground are corrupted, and lie like a GOP member caught in a ***** house ,with his or her clothes off,I should know I have dealt with them 4 times about the lottery
Check the thread on 250 Ashland Place for some of the borderline incompetent and weird things they have done with that process. Basically (a) they don't seem to have staffed appropriately to deal with the crunch periods, leading to long delays in response even when they're supposed to be responding to you (i.e., to schedule interviews at their own request, before their own deadline for doing so) and (b) they treat applicants as if they were all homeless folks with long eviction histories who need to be carefully screened for tendencies to throw urine on their neighbors when they get mad, rather than, you know, ordinary people who happened to apply for a housing lottery. They are working outside their area of expertise, and it shows.
I have no reason to think they're corrupt, though, and, to be fair, I've only dealt with them this one time, so, at least for the organizational problems, it may just be a string of unfortunate circumstances that wouldn't necessarily recur.
As many of you are aware, Breaking Ground serves as the Marketing agent and processes the applications for some of the housing lotteries.
Have any of you dealt with them ? Are they pretty straightforward or do they prolong the process ? Personal experiences and any insight to how they operate would be appreciated !
They tend to lie( told me I WON my appeal, yet they had no more apartment and I was placed on the wait list, and they did not know I knew that when you appeal it place a lock on the unit, and that even if I lost the appeal with them I still had one more appeal though HPD, and THEY drag out the process, they are not to be trusted,
Hey I had a interview set up by them and when I showed up, they claimed it was for another day, pulled out my letter from them that said the day I was there .and they still tried to say I was a few days early,
Turned me down for supportive housing because of my credit. They did such a thorough--too invasive I thought--investigation of my finances for their supportive housing sites which I thought was a bit of a ripoff.

My appeal is 2 months old as of this writing and still being "processed". Purportedly, the person (the ONE person) who was handling appeals quit so we'll get a decision in a "...couple of weeks..." So I've basically been wait-listed and, in effect, have been denied despite Marketing Handbook HPD guidelines.

Didn't you say you were looking for the top band? It sure sounds like those are still available.

That delay is unacceptable, though.
Yep, I'm in the top band
