I have to ask, have you just started walking into every fast food joint convenient to you? They now have to pay $10.50-11/hour. That has to be more than you're making canning.
Also, do you look old? Maybe, you are experiencing age discrimination... What don't you work for Uber/Lyft or yellow cab?
Plating is the application of electric current between a positive electrode, generally made of the metal being plated, and the workpiece, charged negatively. This results in the deposition of a thin layer of the metal, often nickel, zinc, or copper, on the work. Enhanced corrosion resistance, or abrasion resistance, is the idea. Many tools you see in the hardware store are nickel plated; much of the hardware you see is zinc plated. All US pennies are not solid copper anymore, but copper plated pot metal.
Uber is indentured servitude. No, thanks.
I'm about to go work for McDonalds. Welcome to Trumps USA.
There something that you are doing in the interview that is screwing up your chances. Also, maybe your resume sucks. Besides plating, what else can you do?
Wildcard-As the weather improves tourism increases. Maybe try for a job on one if the tour boats? There have been listings for some of the cruises like Circle line and Spirit on NY recently working on the deck or below. It would beat McDonald's for sure. I was in the tourism industry and it can be a good gig that lasts year round. Just a thought.
Working at a box office might be an idea as well, again either for a tour operator, museum or large venue.
I know its not your area of expertise but it could be a start to getting more stable and way better then fast food. If you have experience working with the public that's a plus.
I know its been a long road, I hope you find good fortune and peace soon.
