Why you stayed with them for so long is beyond me. I would have jumped to fios as soon as they were in my area. Fios is the best cable provider in NY. Period.

After they failed to give you a decent deal you should have told the Spectrum rep that you will do everything possible to convert people in your building over to Fios. That is pi$$ poor customer service, especially since their competitor is willing to give you a much better deal. Screw them.

You're gonna have to dump them again later on. I use to get triple play from FIOS for less than $110 all in. Now I dropped the phone and still pay $120 plus. And by the time your 1-2 year price lock is over they won't even offer the same TV packages that you have now so even if they offer you some sort of discount you might have to downgrade the number of channels that you have.

we got a 2 year deal 79.00 this year and 95.00 next year . plus all kinds of perks , free dvr upgrades and gift cards since they have people in our building stationed here with a table in the lobby looking to convert the building .. in two years we will review it again .

Spectrum and Verizon are taking turns at raping customers. You just have to decide which and then lay back because you know what is coming.

Verizon in particular is doing all it can to get DSL and other copper line based customers to either switch to FIOS (in the limited areas available) or at least up bundle into expensive packages. Those with stand alone landline service are continuously seeing downgrades in service (repair times just to get someone to come out can be two or three weeks), high fees (late fees are now over $5 IIRC), and so forth.

I'm paying almost $200 for RCN, which used to be the cheaper alternative. I don't have premium TV channels, but I have a DVR, regular cable and I guess one upgrade from that, fast internet (at least usually) and one telephone line.

Fios does come into my building, so maybe I should look into that.

Is the $79 a net amount or are there additional charges for taxes and fees?
