Here's the situation... I think my landlord is a first-time landlord. The landlord has two units in his house under one address. Both of these units are metered under one address - Electricity, Gas, Water, and whatnot.

The problem is that I am paying for both units' utilities even though I only live in one of the two units. At the time of the signing of the contract the owner did not disclose this to me. He never said anything about two units sharing the same utilities; I assumed that the two units had two separate meters. The contract says that I am responsible for all utilities payment of the house (really vague on whether the "house" consists of the entire house or the one unit that I'm living in). On average I calculate that I am paying extra hundred dollars per month on the utilities of the second unit. Even worse part of this deal is that the second unit is probably paying the landlord extra "utilities" on top of his rent also.

I've asked him to separate the utilities, which he won't do. He says he can give me a few bucks (less than 20) to help cover the second unit in question. The utilities are under my name so not paying is not an option. What recourse do I have?
