I remember back in the 80s people in NY were actually curious about chain restaurants. They were rare to non-existant (except major fast food chains) at the time.
I remember when a Domino's opened up and my friends and I had only had real pizza our whole lives, but we thought, 'Domino's is in in the movies and commercials and it is all over the country, so it must be something really special!' So we ordered one and excitedly opened the box...
Sure we ate it, but we couldn't help but laugh at how we were duped.

Yes. I was shocked when I first saw the Ruby Tuesday in Times Square. In NEW YORK CITY? I go to the one in the mall in NJ near where I live. But in the city...it just looks wrong.

Used to work near the Flatiron. Lots of great choices. We went out for office birthdays, and we had that one person who chose friggin' Outback every year.
the highlight of my stay was the Bubba Gump shrimp restaurant because of the drinks and the delicious shrimp. That has to be the best seafood place I ever been to in my life and will be coming back to NYC in 5 weeks so I can experience that again

Honestly though, all kidding aside, given feeling the way you do about Bubba Gump, you should definitely give Red Lobster a try when you come back, it's just another block or so down. Or locally if they have one where you are at.
Ya really buggin, for the best seafood in NYC ... link up the fisherman on the FDR highway fishing at 2AM. They got the real Fresh fish for cheap!!! Can't beat the quality!
