first i would question your friend story. what part of nyc did ur friends' relative lived in? how can she saw black ppl on the subway and not outside of it? when she get out of the subway along with the black ppl, aren't they are ALL outside? so she must see black ppl outside the subway station. so ur story have some holes in them and very naive to believe ur friends.

anyway. do u even live in nyc? have u seen local nyc white woman with baby stroller on the subway? yes or no? i live in nyc my whole life here and trust me i dont ever see a local nyc white woman with baby stroller on the subway. maybe they have money for cabs or has a car?

Vincent, surely you know that the country was very segregated at that time. So if one were to travel from a "white" area via the subway to another "white" area, it would be quite possible not to see a black person above ground in either location. And I suspect she was not leaving home to take the subway very frequently.

It's not the same now as populations are more mixed, but imagine in this decade traveling from East New York via subway to East Flatbush. You would see many more white people in the subway than you would above ground in either location. Get the picture? Since the subway is a form of transportation, you see people there that you won't see in your own neighborhood.

I am definitely not naive, so don't waste your time with that thought.

thx for englighten us about the segregation back in the days in nyc. even if ur friends' relative where to travel from one white neighborhood to another white neighborhood. she surely see black ppl get of the train. what...she thinks those stops consist of housing? what about her stop and the stop she get off...does she see any underground houses?

ur friends' relative is probably old, senile and sh*t.

Vincent, you seem unclear on the reason I was telling you the story. Do I think this was a *sane* assumption that she made? No, I don't. I told you the story because she made a ridiculous ASSUMPTION based on what she saw - and what she saw was a white neighborhood (where she lived), black people riding the subways, and on the other end, another white neighborhood where she was visiting. So she made a totally incorrect assumption, not an "educated" guess.

Go back and re-read your own posts about white people, strollers and subways.

The story I told you was an analogy. Get it now?

Now that you mention it I can't think of any time I've ever seen this.

I do live in a neighborhood with lots of young white women pushing their kids around in Strollers, and yet I dont' think I've ever seen them put their kids on public transit in the stroller. Kind of odd now that I think about it.

Yes. Many times. And I've lived here less than two years.

I've seen white people use baby strollers in the subway. C'mon, you really think that only blacks and latinos are the only ones who push strollers underground? If you head to stations in the Upper West side, UES, or parts of Lower Manhattan, you will see plenty of whites with babies on the train. That is just in the city. What about areas like Brooklyn or Queens? You will see the same.

Strange I get off the UES on 86th st. station all the time after work during rush hour and never seen a white woman with a stroller with baby before. But I did see a middle age black woman with a baby on stroller that walk down a flight of stair today on the 86th st. station. And no 1 help her.
