Do seniors get the $1.35 rate?

I don't think so. I only saw an adult rate... $2.75... The price of a subway ride... You profess to loving the subway, so that shouldn't be a price shock for your wallet.

It's good to have options but if you're coming from the Rockaways, an hour to Wall Street isn't THAT great and if you're going to midtown it's a lot quicker to take the subway.

Coming from the Rockaways is a LONG commute. I'm sure most spend over an hour one way.

I'll probably try it out in a few weeks when I'm on vacation. The ferry is not within walking distance so I will have to get on the bus or the free shuttle to the ferry. Its not good for me going to work, but I will have a beer on it coming home once in a while during the summer. If somebody doesn't beat me to it and post here on C-D about it, I'll let you guys know how it is at the end of the month.

Its exactly an hour from when the train arrives at my station to my desk at work; I work in Tribeca.

If you work around Wall Street, and live near the ferry landing in Rockaway, then its great. I wish they made it go to the West Side of Manhattan as well, and extended it further east along the peninsula. If it stopped in Battery Park City where the NJ ferries are that would have been great for me, at least I could have walked to work from there. If it stopped on the West Side and possibly had a landing at Beach 62nd Street near the end of the marina, I would never take the A train again.

I used to take the Ferry to NJ from the West side and the winter is no fun at all. Perhaps dangerous when the wind is high and the water is choppy and that's on the Hudson which is doesn't get much waves. I can't imagine being at the Rockaways heading out around the bay in the winter. Better have your own life vest and wet suit when the water is below 40.

When they offered expensive high speed private ferry service with the same route throughout the past 40 years, which all failed, one of the problems was that the ferry could not run in bad weather during the winter or when Jamaica Bay had a lot of ice. Let's see if they get enough ridership during the winter to make it sustainable.
