$6500 to paint and trim a one bedroom apartment? How long does that take one week at most?

If the guy paints one apartment per week he makes $338,000.

I am in the wrong profession.

get some bids, and compare. you will want high gloss paint in bold colors, at least on an accent wall. patching and putting on a skim coat is a good idea for a professional finish. google search period correct colors for walls and trim.

You can get more bang for the buck if you just patch the walls, repair only the severely damaged trim, primer and paint. Make sure you get any little holes filled in the bottoms corners. you may have enough $$$ left over to clean and polish the floors.

It seems you are looking for an original, like new finish on all your walls and mouldings. This kind of job charges a premium, especially if it has never been done in your apartment. It will be detailed work, and expensive. sanding down and stripping moulding and window trim, that is alot of work, as some of the trim may need to come off for "like original" finish.

try to speak to some of your neighbors, maybe they have done similar work in their apartment and can recommend a contractor.
