I'm seriously considering moving from the Northeast to a more affordable state, with no taxes. The home in the above video is in Dallas. I really like the idea of owning such a beautiful home, but then I think about all that I love about the Northeast **i.e. Fall weather, entertainment, culture and of course my family.**

I'm conflicted but curious about what you would do if you had the opportunity to relocate outside of NYC?
I can answer that without hesitation: I am a native New Yorker , and have spent myriad of years travelling throughout the whole 50 states, trying to find a please I like to relocate, when I retire. The close I came to liking a state was in California, and the city of San Diego. But, after spending there some time, interacting with people, etc., I change my mind. Coming from NYC, it is hard to have things in common with other people from other states. And that is very important because one has to relate to those people on a daily basis. I live well, I am comfortable, I like four seasons, I love the rain..... my family is here, I love NYC, and everything it has to offer, so why move. Sure, I pay more than people in other states, but I am happy here.

And finally, there is no PARADISE, PARADISE is within one self........Good-luck to you.

Relocating means starting over, meeting new people, moving away from family.

Me personally, I would not. New York City hasn't been bad to me at all, in fact, it's been nothing but good. Besides, I can't drive, soooooooo... yeah.

Really need to work on getting my license. Don't judge me.

New York city residents seem to be content with shoe box high rent apartments, bars on every block, very good restaurants, nightlife, excellent transit options and cultural attractions.

I agree, there tends to be a lot of charlatans in NYC, but again, most native NYC residents will take the bad w/ the good and stay put, rather than relocate to more affordable cities like Austin, Dallas, Denver, etc.

There is nothing that keeps native NYers here in NYC. I cant tell you how many friends i grew up with, & family members that have moved far away from NYC, including myself. Couldnt wait to leave this socialist, dirty , expensive cesspool. The hipsters can have it. I miss the foods though

Any misfit can fit in in NYC, and that's why I stay. Really not sure where I could live and not be considered weird. When I leave NYC, it will likely be for another country.

I wound up here like a dirty pigeon flopping across the Hudson River one day and never left because I never learned how to drive lol. You're welcome, NYC.

I know how to drive, because I didn't grow up here. Ya hadda drive, or risk being a total outcast in high school.

My husband and I are seriously considering a move within the next five years. But it still has to be a city and we still have to be in a walkable area. We've slowly been checking out different cities and we have a few contenders.

Of course, there would be things I miss. Food, drinking water, convenience and the train when it doesn't suck.

If I am all by myself without a family to worry about or anyone to take care of, I would move out of NYC. The reason? Like you said, the cost of living in NYC is way too high, and people here are selfish.

People move to NYC for the wage premiums.

And then pay enormous rents to continue accessing those premiums.

NYC is not the only walkable city out there. Far from it. You could easily live somewhere more affordable that is also walkable. So it's not NYC or nothing.
