What is the best part of Queens for a white middle class family? (Nassau: apartment, magnet schools)

Flushing is Korean and Chinese last tine I checked.I never been to bayside. Howard beach is not bad in some parts. But why queens? Better off on the island out a ways from the city if you have kids. Do NOT send them to public schools in the city.
Public schools are not bad in Queens...especially if you take into consideration the district when you are looking for a house/apartment.
Bayside & Flushing have some great schools...even the other areas listed have pretty fantastic schools. If you have the desire...you can get a great education & go far. I know MANY who ended up very well.
Many public schools have classes that are segregated on the level of the student. If your child is in the top class...they will get great opportunities: if not, there is room to move up.
On the higher level: High School: there are some fantastic magnet schools that you are eligible for when from NYC. The best thing is: it is all free.
How's the commute to work? I'm looking for a place in Queens/Nassau, and I'll probably be working in Manhattan while my girlfriend is looking for places in Nassau.
Does anybody know if either of us will have a hard time if we live in northern Bayside? I know the Cross Island Parkway can get rough sometimes...
yeah, I don't have a problem with people of other races. i borught it up because I wouldn't want to be the odd man out on the block. someone mentioned Howard Beach, and that's good because I come from an Italian-American family, and I hear that Howard Beach is sometimes called the little Italy of Queens.

What about Rego Park and Forest Hills.
