Why don't we ride the "Metro" since most of us pay our fares with a MetroCard?

Why not call the card, for example, the MTA Card?

Why do we ride the Train, or the Subway, but we can't ride the Metro?

Is there any logic to this? Perhaps the name of the card should be changed to the Mayor Billy D Card? As if he needs more feeding his ego.

The Metro card can be used on buses, as well, including the NICE bus which runs in Nassau County. MTA stands for Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Not all that long ago, we used tokens instead of a card.

Neither would I, but that's what it's sold as. Don't go spoiling my wise-ass remark, dammit.
