Not for nothing, but if it isn't a burger joint... what is it??

I'm not UWS, but I've never understood the fuss about Shake Shack. I love Danny Meyer generally, but after one time at the Shake Shack, I had no interest in ever returning. I was surprised at how mediocre it was.

I like the shack on 77th & Columbus. Shockingly I like the one in Times Square too. It's just way too damn crowded.

It's a community gathering place. The burger is just the main item on the menu now, so people refer to it as a burger joint.

The one in Battery Park City is nice. Not as busy. I don't think this new Shack will alleviate the crowds at the location on 77th. These locations will always be packed!

What didn't you like about it? Many are impressed with how high quality it is compared to other burger places, so I'm curious.

Shake Shack's also a growing NYC business that's been able to expand well past NYC's borders while still offering some pretty good quality burgers, so I support that. It's a good thing that a relatively new New York business can do so well on a national and international level and isn't selling pure swill. I'd like to see it expand to upstate.

Really? There's one in 3rd Ave too which imma make my way to. It can't be as crowded as 77th and 45th

Delis, restaurant/bars, and smaller burger joints all offer burgers as good as, if not better than Shake Shack. Shake Shack was good at marketing and promotions and at aiming at tourists and other newcomers.

I'm not saying Shake Shack is bad. It's just not like it changed the experience of getting a burger in NYC. It's just a new chain. It's aimed at a more upscale demographic than typical fast food places.

Do you know what was even more shocking? Recently, I was traveling in Asia and came across a Halal Guys restaurant. I couldn't believe that these were the same guys from 6th Ave, so I looked it up on the web, and they actually turned it into a franchise and have dozens of restaurants.
