SuperMario...10455 encompasses Mott Haven, Longwood (extreme Western Hunts Point), and part of Melrose. The numbers are abysmally low...and what's worse is that they are Household income!!!! That means the average household in 10455 (for example) has a total combined income of $20,000!!!!!

yup, that garden spot of mott haven, it's even worse when you factor in the few kooky artists who are pioneering there incomes, they brought the numbers up so the real income for the peeps there is even lower. Yeah just the kinda people I want to live with

I doubt the few artists living on a couple of blocks would have that much of an impact anyway. They make up a very small portion of that neighborhood numbers wise.

Yeah Noowyowker..don't pay that one any mind...he has a very hostile and negative outlook towards city life, and areas that are poor in general. I am not surprised by the numbers though..even with all the new housing going up, the concentration of housing projects will always skew the averages extremely low. Same problem with NYC overall, the average HH income in NYC is $44,000 or thereabouts....that is abysmally low, but not really accurate because there is a huge amount of poor people making $10,000 or less, while there are comparably few higher wage earners...thus the HH income of $44,000 in NYC.

yeah keep you eyes on his shucking and jiving and don't pay me any mind because it's hostile not to like areas full of dilapidated housing, full of people who only know how to accept government assistance, to dislike streets that are dirty and garbage strewn, and mix in a few drug dealers. it is wrong to dislike a place with no open spaces for recreation and an area that has terrible schools, an area whose air is polluted by the many highways that criss cross the area and the industrial areas that border it.
what I can't figure out is why everyone isn't flocking to buy into good old mott haven.
and lastly it is most rude to refer to me as that one, in the future you can refer to me as Mr Charlie and you can guess how I refer to you

NoowYorka I know of a couple "hipsters" that were smart enough to get into the housing lottery for some of the new housing going up by me and they got new homes! It's pretty cool...they have renters already lined up....it takes guts and a little luck but they pulled it off...they are moving in in a month or so. It will be an intersting twist to the neighborhood as they are also directly across the street from large, towering housing projects. Although they knew what they were getting into....at the prices they got for those homes....I think you made a wise choice.

They are actually all over NYC, but the ones I am specifically talking about are in Mott Haven. They always advertise new affordable apts, housing, and condos on the nyc.gov website....you should check it out. I believe one of these guys bought a brand new 3 family house for $375,000...other were sold for $475,000 (with 5% down).
