I was outside with multiple neighbors today and their children. Then a caretaker came and I spoke to her about my 87 year old neighbor who recently had a stroke. Everyone was nice and respectful and no loud music, games of chance, drinking, smelly cooking food, violence or disrespect of passing women happened. Amazing.
Sounds like you live in a boring neighborhood. No wonder why Staten Island is opiate overdose territory.
And it's utter nonsense that they aren't drinking. They are drinking either inside their homes or in the bars.
You yourself have admitted to opiate addicts near you.
Blacks have been given nothing except illusory reparation schemes such as affirmative action which provides opportunity for some but still doesn't eradicate systematic racism.
I agree.
There is a healthy social and community culture in some of the white Jewish neighborhoods (both ultra- and modern-Orthodox) as well as in the more upper income artsy white neighborhoods like Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, etc., where people talk to each other and get together for cultural and religious events, etc.
But in some of the more blue collar white working- and middle-class neighborhoods, there is a scary undercurrent of violence and dysfunctionality. (The kind of violence and dysfunctionality...that was attracted to a candidate like Donald Trump! )
Reparations does not repair ongoing systematic racism. Yes, reparations should be paid out to every Black citizen (and Native American for that matter) in America. Instead, Native Americans have been given welfare while Blacks have been given nothing except illusory reparation schemes such as affirmative action which provides opportunity for some but still doesn't eradicate systematic racism.
White neighborhoods are seeing their chickens come home to roost with the opiod epidemic. They hypocritically looked down their nose at the few minorities in minority neighborhoods who consumed marijuana. They routinely condemned an entire neighborhood as bad because 10 out of 1000 people were on drugs. Forget that most were just regular, hard working people.
They were so busy brushing off their own drug use while judging others. In actual numbers, white American and particularly white American male spend more on and consume more illicit drugs. Hell minorities do not have that kind of disposable income to prop up a multi billion dollar empire.
They are also the ones who spend more money on prostitutes(now called dates).
Minorities saw what the crack epidemic did to their neghborhoods so for the most part it is not used openly anymore. Whites have been using drugs forever with no repercussion to their criminal records, decline of their neighborhoods or ability to obtain employment. They continued taking drugs and are dependent beyond normal function.
The dealers are making drugs cheaper and more potent.
As a result you have more overdose happening.
I agree. The "bar culture" in white (non-Jewish) neighborhoods is not very high class and brings many social problems along with it.
Are there many bars in Maspeth and Glendale, like there are in Woodlawn?
Just curious.
Glendale and Maspeth do not have many bars.
