I went to a couple of Speakeasy's with my daughter. I never would have known they existed without her knowledge. If you're looking for a not your typical bar place to grab a specialty drink these are cool places.

I went to two of them - Death & Co and Please Don't Tell. There are many others. I love how they just don't "exist" unless you look for them. Secretive/Prohibition. Drinks aren't cheap, but plenty of bars for that. I loved how Please Don't Tell's entrance was through a phone booth at Crif Dogs.

The Chinese Scholars Garden, in Sailor's Snug Harbor. Take the Richmond Terrace bus from the S.I. Ferry Terminal.

Several uptown and in the BX. One of my favorite things about this city is how you can just wander aimlessly and discover so many cool places.

This is a weird answer. The question was What is your favorite local attraction, and your answer listed absolutely none.

An eloquent and grammatically beautifully written post from city-data's most proud Ivy League educated, self-proclaimed author.
