I came upon this crash just after it happened. It's a little blurry because of the telephoto but that may be good because there was a body in the far left lane.

I just saw an article about this on the news. Condolences to the relatives of the deceased and a speedy/full recovery to the injured!

Wow, horrible.

I'm often on the GCP and use it to go to LI whenever I want to get out of the city. Thankfully I didn't use it today.

There are a lot of speeders weekend mornings and there have been a few deaths in the same general area.

Was it westbound by the turn right before the Kew Gardens Interchange?

Westbound just past 188th street. There is a curve in that area. The vehicle sliced through the guardrail into the eastbound lanes. They really need to use Jersey barriers.

Don't know if that is an insult but the video was shown on PIX11, CBS2, WNBC4, and WABC7.

It was by the 188st exit. Speeding westbound on the section is very dangerous since there's a hill and the highway slightly veers rights so it's not difficult to picture someone not paying attention going into the divider.

The NY Post says the driver was going 120 mph.
