especially in shared laundry rooms where it's like 32 apartments for 2 washers and 2 drying machines. And they replaced our regular drying machines with these new eco friendly ones which eat up 3x as many quarters cuz it barely dries anything. You have to repeatedly add more quarters for another full load. these arent the ones where you pay per quarters. it's like 1.25 (which actually is kinda cheap really cuz I hear horror stories about how expensive the drying machines are in some places) but ugh, do add another 1.25 makes it 2.50 so that is horrible. and then you have people taking your stuff out of the drying machines to put their stuff and your stuff is still wet!
You're lucky to have that. Around here people have to carry their dirty laundry to Astoria Park and beat it against the rocks along the shore of the East River.
I used to live in a building like the one the OP lived in, with many more residents than washers and dryers.(it was in Washington Heights.) We soon decided it just wasn't worth the hassle trying to figure out when the machines would be empty and running up and down the elevator. After a while we just dropped most of our laundry off at the laundromat and pay them to do it.
Know plenty of apartment residents who have onsite laundries, but still go to laundromats. They just find it more convenient or whatever than dealing with the madness "downstairs".
Several friends on the UWS take Uber or a taxi over to a 24/7 laundromat on the UES. Usually they go late/overnight when the place is quieter so they can get things done all at once.
lol great pic. and double lol @ suggesting laundry service. if you cant wash your own underwear you suck at life.
