Can kids study at NY schools for 2 months? (New York, York: lease, daycares)

Hi! I'm from Chile and I'm travelling to NY for 2 months (Dec-Jan) for work reasons. I'll go with my kids (7 years and 2 years old)
During this time I would like my kids to have a new life experience sharing with other kids, learning some english, or just having fun? Is it possible for foreign kids to study 2 months at any public school in NYC? How much would it cost? Do you have suggestions for activities/programs where they can participate?

Believe you have to be a resident to have your children enrolled in a NYC public school. Am thinking you are looking for a private language center than can provide such structure.

Most private language schools/centers are geared towards adults. You need to bring your lease and a utility bill to the school to prove residence. Can't enroll your children in NYC public schools without that proof. Doubt you'll have those for a 2 month visit.
There's a non-resident application but the deadline is in August. If your child is accepted, then you are charged tuition. To me this option wouldn't make any sense for a 2-month period. But here's the info anyway. Non-Residents - New Students - New York City Department of Education
The younger child should have plenty of options with private daycares, etc.
Most private language schools/centers are geared towards adults. So I doubt the OP's children will be able to interact with other/local children there although I am sure that they could take English language classes without a problem. But I do agree that it is unlikely that one enroll their children just for 2 months at a NYC public school without being a NYC resident.
Key is *most*. Am sure that someone has picked up on such a niche and is capitalizing. A few Google searches can answer that.

I know that inlingua language school will accept children as English language students but the classes are private meaning one on one. So the children wouldn't be interacting with other children.

The OP can just enroll his children, he'll have an address for work, and then withdraw them when he moves. He doesn't have to tell them he's leaving in two months.
FYI: Under McKinney-Vento any child can go to school even if they don't have the required documentation.
