Like I say in most of these threads about NYC. You'll take it and you'll like it. Because if they decide to implement this, there's not a darn thing you can do about it.
You move. By the time this becomes a possible reality, I'll be eligible for retirement. I'll weigh that against whatever further nonsense NYC comes up with and make my exit when I have had enough.
Practically speaking, it doesn't work unless they hire lots of Sanitation cops for enforcement of illegal dumping. People will just throw their garbage out around the corner.
Exactly. Another black market - get rid of your trash! We'll pick it up at night and throw it in the river, city parks or drive it to the highway and dump away!! All done for a small fee of 100 a month! No questions asked!
Building owners will fight one another over garbage in front of their property. Illegal dumping will be out of control and there will be a great feast for the rats. Whoever comes up with this stuff doesn't understand human behavior.

It would be hilarious for the Mayor to look out his window on garbage day and see a mountain of garbage stacked neatly in front of his home.
if they (City of New York) thinks I will give them one extra dime for picking up my trash.
This idea is being floated around and if it gains traction and implemented, the next thing they tax will be the air we breathe.
Disgusted
