If you must use quarters, for the love of God, have the exact change ready. Cannot stand people that get on with change then act as if they didn't know they were taking the bus, asking 1,000 questions.

Wow, why so hostile?

I often use quarters. In fact, quarters don't take much longer than the metrocard, because the card isn't instantaneous.

And keep in mind that this is a city of visitors, not to mention a city of changing bus routes, and it's not unreasonable to be asking questions.

I agree. And keep in mind not everyone lives in Manhattan or North Brooklyn where there's a subway station on every block. I work in Springfield Gardens and if the bodega doesn't have Metrocards in stock, I need to use change.

Am not referring to quarters. Clearly said that people get on knowing they have change and don't have it ready and pretend as if they don't know what the fare is. Point is, if using *any* change, be considerate of others and have it ready. Simple as that. People have places to go just like you.

Am here to tell you that I live in an area that is spread out or whatever and somehow seem to manage. When using coins, it's always ready in advance (exact change). It's common sense.

I bit into a roll of quarters paying for the bus and both my front teeth cracked, one fell off. I had a cap on one and I was like omg my cap and searched all over the floor and the bus driver was like LEAVE THIS BUS! I was like I just knocked my teeth out!!! So yes you can pay with money but it has to be quarters. This was before unlimited metrocards (which are a god send)

did you hear the one about the football player who went jetskiing and lost his diamond earring worth $150,000 when he hit a wave? He then paid a team of scuba divers to look for it and they took his money but told everyone he was an idiot and they'll never find that spec in the bottom of a dark & deep lake

Sorry about your teeth! But seriously why would anyone bite into a dirty roll of quarters instead using their fingers/hands to do so (meaning to tear open the roll)?
