Hi. We're going into the city today. Can we take one or two busses with $2.75 in quarters or do we need a metro card?

THANKS

Get a MetroCard!! Nobody wants to wait for you putting in one friggin' quarter at a time holding up the *ENTIRE* bus. Are you new to NYC or what? Amazes me that people still want to bring tons of change to pay for their fare.

If you must use quarters, for the love of God, have the exact change ready. Cannot stand people that get on with change then act as if they didn't know they were taking the bus, asking 1,000 questions.

You can use quarters. Ask driver for a transfer if you're taking another bus. Can't use transfers for subway.
Metrocard is better. Weighs less. No fumbling with change.

People use change all the time. Do people waiting on line behind them get annoyed. Yeah, they sure do. But what can they do about it?

But for real, get a Metrocard. Use your quarters on something else, like cheap food.

Spare change can also be used as a distraction technique. Someone bothering you or following you? Throw a handful of quarters in the air and make a dash for it.

Just dump everything into the farebox at once.

One can use change/coins to pay for one's bus fares. If one needs a transfer to another bus, ask the driver for it.

I use quarters on the rare instances when my card runs out. Have exact fare - i use an old prescription bottle - and feed the the box a few at a time so that it doesn't jam.
