White Castle has a right to be in NYC. As long as they're doing good business, why shouldn't they be? I wish more food businesses were open 24 hours, that's a area of which I think we lack. For many of us work overnight shifts, many bar hop, and party.
Yeah I heard about that. Everything is going residential. My mechanic and everyone else on his street is about to lose their space to build condos where people apparently want the BQE right in their faces.

NYC has a lot of 24 hour food places
But yeah, even more would be better.
And damn, this thread is making me want White Castle

Actually don't think there are as many 24 hour food places as once existed.
Walking around UWS or UES after say 11PM it is becoming more and more difficult to find anything open.
There used to be a 24/7 bagel place on Lexington Avenue and 77th, right by the hospital. It now closes by 11PM which IMHO is amazing. I mean that area has a built in market (Lenox Hill Hospital) that is open 24/7. Not to mention NYPD and others who work late/over night.
Many of the 24/7 diners are going or gone as well.

The Halal Guys in the UWS is open til 5AM
I'm not sure about the UWS or UES, but there are a lot of late night food places in neighborhoods that are more nightlife heavy.
And in ethnic neighborhoods you can usually find some late night places as well. I know Sunset Park has a taco truck that's open til 5AM every night.
And you would think places would want to stay open as late as possible due to the extremely high Manhattan rents.
Last time I went to White Castle. 12 cheeseburgers, chicken rings, onion rings, and a drink
Sigh! You are making me so hungry. Loved those sliders when I was in elementary school. They melt in your mouth. Drool.
