I should treat it more respectfully.

Though of course bread and butter are eaten all over, the buttered roll (or roll with butter, as it is known in parts of New Jersey) is a distinctly local phenomenon. Mention its name outside the New York metropolitan area and you would very likely be met with blank incomprehension.

I remember buttered rolls being served at breakfast and dinner at my families homes and friends homes when younger. It was a basket of carbs served before what usually amounted to more carbs with the main meal. Calories were probably about 3,500 NOT counting the rolls. Wouldn't eat like that now though!

The buttered roll commands no respect though, it just reminds you that you don't need to think about it.

I live right nearby Bakery Boys in Corona, and late at night, they are always rolling out those trays with the buttered rolls to load onto trucks destined for delivery.

It smells so good.

Wow how stupid does this writer think people are. Even if you don't butter a roll you would know what a buttered roll is.

I've never had a peanutbutter and honey sandwich but I would stare not in confusion if someone told me about it. I know what peanutbutter, a sandwich and Honey is so it's not hard to figure out.

Ive peanut butter and honey. Real good. Use only a small amount of honey as its sweet and override the peanut butter taste easily.

No - the everything bagel with cream cheese and a large coffee with two sugars command respect! (that was my breakfast from the cart in front of grand central as a 20 year old - wouldn't eat that now! )
