Hello again
I have another question.... I was originally going to take the ferry from weehawkin to 39th street
But I will now be coming with five people when you add up the cost of the ferry for each $9.00 each way
That's $18.00x5 $90.00 plus subway in NYC that's insane
I find it's cheaper to pay the toll on the GWB and pay for parking split between us
Now my question will it be chaotic or will it be okay to drive over the bridge and down the west side highway
And use a garage??
One last option drive to secaucus and take the train to penn station (cheapest option) then subway
As you can see I don't use public transportation due to where I live if I don't use my car I am lost
Sorry for all the questions but I do appreciate the responses and I do thank you in advance
You are making this far more difficult then it needs to be. You don't live that far, you live in north west New Jersey.
Hop in your car, drive into the city, figure out what neighborhood you want to go to and find parking around there and enjoy the day in the city. You can even reserve a parking spot in a garage ahead of time with companies like park whiz
Many persons park somewhere uptown (UWS, UES, Harlem, etc..)
Avoid UES or east Harlem. Marathon route goes up from Queenboro bridge then up 2nd ave Northbound....also comes back down 5th avenue southbound turning on 59th street. It's not ideal to get your car stuck.

I live on UES, no one said anything about driving, but parking, and assure you on marathon Sunday much of that still goes on. Yes, the avenues can be an issue, but side streets are a different story.
City publishes a list of street closures well in advance of the marathon, so you know when and where to avoid.

yes the question is about parking. I assume the OP needs to leave at some point. Consider the official 8 hour time limit of the race, its ideal to avoid it if possible. I had friends who had trouble leaving certain races due to road closure.
