Stoop ball! And suicide. We also made up a 3 man, every man for himself baseball game played in the horseshoe-style school yard of PS elementary schools. Hard to explain it.

Growing up in SI on my block it was more stickball because few homes had front porches/stoops that were right on the sidewalk. That is you would have had to go into someone's front yard.
One of my brothers tried playing SB once using our front steps. A very short time into the game Mom told him to knock it off with the noise, and that was that.
Furthermore, for transplants and or those who otherwise had no idea, now you know why signs like these are all over many older New York buildings.
