As for Chipotle, I have an Ecuadorian friend who used to take me there as he liked burritos and it was okay. He no longer goes there as his sister opened up a Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn which serves much better Mexican food.
For some reason, I read this and LOLed

I love Chipotle for what it is, a great place to get a $10 meal. I'm "smart" enough to use the app, so I don't ever have to wait on ridiculous lines. It just works.
I'm under zero delusion that I'm eating high quality, authentic Mexican food.. and the people that compare Chipotle to actual Mexican food just make me laugh. Nobody goes to Chipotle thinking they're about to dine on real Mexican cuisine.
Shake Shack built up hype here because it came from NYC out of a little shack in Madison Square Park run by one of NYC's most successful high end restauranteurs. It makes sense some of that halo has carried over in the city of its origins.
I'm not as sure about Chipotle as I also don't know anyone who actually gets hyped about Chipotle. I prefer Dos Toros over Chipotle.
Same question I have for Starbucks. Oh gosh is that coffee disgusting to the T!
THANK YOU. THIS ^^^
I still do not get why, in NYC of all places, seemingly every Starbucks store I pass is crowded or has a waiting line! If espresso is your thing, there are so many other places that will make you a good, rich cup of (non-burned) coffee that actually *tastes* like coffee and isn't covered up with all kinds of questionable and cloyingly sweet syrups. And it's not like you're saving any money by going to Starbucks - that stuff is expensive!
I mean, I get it if you are in say, Iowa or something and Starbucks is the only game in town, but in NYC? Really? The same goes for all the other chains like Chipotle, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Applebees, etc etc. I grew up in the Midwest and was never so happy to get away from those types of places, so I'm constantly baffled as to why they always seem so crowded....
The thing is ultimately no matter how good Shake Shack might be it's not worth it to me to wait that long on line for that kind of food. While Shake Shack is good, five guys is just as good if not better and the lines are rarely as bad.
I can't get behind this Five Guys is just as good thing. Five Guys burgers are soggy greaseballs.
Yes anyone saying Five Guys is better needs to get their taste buds checked. And even if Five Guys were better, you go to Shake Shack for more than the food.

Shake Shack may not be everyone's thing but Five Guys is not better than Shake Shack, all that grease seeping out of the bag the moment you walk out yuk...
