I'm not using my "mutt" an excuse. BTW, she's a purebred but that's not here nor there since I got her for free from a family in south brooklyn. Trust me on this, trying to find a ROOM FOR RENT WITH a dog is HARD and you have to LUCK OUT, which I did here, like 10 years ago. It was a different dog back then, but i'm a dog person and will probably never not have a dog. So yes, maybe I should stop complaining, but don't tell me it's easy to rent a room / shared apartment with a dog. Most people don't want that unless they have dogs themselves and even that presents problems. if I got rid of my dog I could easily find a rent share / apt share / room for rent in any area of the city, but because I am a dog owner (proudly) it makes it much harder. Dogs hard hard to keep in the city, and I get a lot of people calling me a moron for doing so, but at the end of the day my dog is my best friend and comfort animal. Do you scream at single parents trying to find apartments (it's hard for them too you know, but at least with kids landlords can't legally discriminate against). I am trying my best for a creature that didn't ask to be brought into this world. I adopted her and I can't get rid of her, even if I won a lottery apartment that said no dogs, i'd so no go! sorry.

The man has no friends. Am in disbelief. Cannot fathom such a situation. Am thinking you need to get out more instead of pouring money into that pooch or whatever.
Many of the ethnic groups are 2-3 gens in those neighborhood, unless someone buys them all out with huge pot of gold most neighborhoods will remain as it was just like the 90s.
And the Bronx has the least amount of Asians of all the boros which makes them the least likely to have huge buyouts or development projects.
When people said Brooklyn was gentrifying, it didn't mean the entire borough was going through the same process, so when people say the Bronx is gentrifying, I take it to mean certain neighborhoods that are most accessible to the major Manhattan job centers instead of assuming the other person is an idiot for saying a short staatement without a few pages of qualifying statements and disclaimers.
I mentioned this in a previous thread, but I'll add it again. The South Bronx is about as far away from a major job center as many of the grittier Brooklyn neighborhoods are from downtown Manhattan, so the South Bronx is now sort of in the same kind of process as places like East New York and Flatbush. Gentrification basically needed to be pushed that far out in Brooklyn for the South Bronx to really start riding the same train--which is basically now.

Just observing. Was *you* that said all you had was your pooch or whatever.

Bushwick started gentrifying about 10 years ago, give or take. It still has a loooong ways to go.
Certain areas in Bushwick are quite nice and highly gentrified but most of what I've seen, it's still quite grimy and most of the residents are still native.
