Also Bayside is a very expensive neighborhood, homes range in the millions. So u can expect to rent 1 br apt. for close to manhattan price.
With $400-$500 budget, even in the outerborough, be prepare to get a roomate. R u willing to have a roomate? If not, ur budget is unrealistic.

No i'm for sure having roommates, I have to, for now at least, until i get money saved...that's fine w/me tho....thanks 4 ur help...

The op is not going to find anything in that 400-500 price range anywhere!

What's so nice about Bayside? sorry so many questions, but i have no clue at all about NY areas of what's decent and what's not...so any feedback is very very helpful to me....

It's supposely a "bad" area, even though I've been there myself a few times and didn't notice anything really bad about the place.
Bayside is easily one of the safest and nicest neighborhoods in Queens, and possibly the entire city.

the biggest issue in bayside is car thefts, if you live there, have a newer car you need secure offstreet parking or your car has a good chance of being stolen.
Rosedale has been in decline for years, the problems of jamaica, hollis, cambria heights have expanded eastward and now in additon to rosedale becoming a sketchy area, valley stream and the areas in nassau on the queens border are beginning to see the urban problems creeping into their areas

nice place yea right.

so rosedale is a nice neighborhood, almost suburban in look and feel. the downside to rosedale is public transportation. you have to take a bus or dollar van to jamaica for the subway. of you may be luckier if you live close to the lirr, rosedale has an lirr stop. the other downside is that the southern part of rosedale is swamp land, so flooding is frequent especially in bad storms. so if u get a basement apartment in that area, you gotta be careful.
my 2 cents

Rosedale IS a nice neighborhood, of course the racist whites that used to live in the area would like to tell you otherwise but that's their true colors showing even after all these years. The truth is the elderly white people that remain in the neighborhood have less to fear from the 'wild black youths' than black people that used to get chased back to the other side of Brookville Park in the 70's/early 80's.

I would not move to rosedale, Queens, If you have kids, the schools, dont have a good reputation, its, congested and an old area, I grew up there in the 70's
