Like the ones who go to Harvard Law, become editor-in-chief of Law Review, become US Senator and come within striking distance of his party's nomination for the White House?
Lot of "real racism" and ignorance there!
obama is hardly representative of the average hard working black or spanish person. Just like bush is hardly representative of the average hard working white person.
He has accomplished a lot and he deserves to be where he is, but I don't think he'll be president this go around
Let's not associate or even mention Obama with any thread titled "Videos from the Ghetto." and just stick with the topic. This thread was dumb from the get-go.

why not? obama represented a ghetto as a state legislator in Illinois, is ghetto now a dirty word? not PC enough? isn't one of his partners in the middle of a trial for some housing mess in the ghetto? ghetto is part of what he is, or claims to be
Why do we keep hearing these stories? When are legislators going to pass tougher laws that impose more serious consequences for animal abuse, especially when it is so conspicuous and becoming more and more prevalent?!
Is it just me or has this been a "macho" trend that has been sweeping the country, becoming more and more popular?
Starla it is just you...as the reality is the media's latest hype story is dog fighting b/c of Michael Vick. This has been going on for years, and is no more a "macho" trend than women cheating on their husbands is seen as a "liberation" of women. Just because the media chooses to focus on something, does not make it a "macho" trend "sweeping" the country....it's just what sells papers right now.
I thought it would be interesting to watch some videos of your city's inner city neighborhoods to show people what it's really like. I actually find these videos interesting and they teach me quite a bit about life in poverty, giving me a close look at what goes on in many cities after dark.
Here's an interesting video of Brownsville, Brooklyn. Pretty interesting and the fact that it's not one of those typical Youtube trash talking videos makes it appeal to me even more.
I hate seeing things like that. That represents everything that I fight against everyday. I have 11 year old son. He is wonderful and very smart. He is always respectful. He has a beautiful spirit that is tested more times than I care to count. I live in Atlanta. I see the way some very stupid people respond to him in stores, and on the street. We started at a new school last year, even there he's stupid until proven smart. He's been a straight A student he's entire life. Some of the boy's in his school has that wanna be thug thing going. They bully him because he is so smart and does not fall for that thug image. He does not wear his pants hanging off his behind. He does not hang out in the street. He does not fit most people's sterotype of a young black male. The good thing is, most young black males do not fit the sterotype. However, those young men are not the ones that are always put in the spotlight. I just don't want him to be one of those "fit the profile" victims when he gets older. I will continue to work in my community to bring even more of the normal young black males into the spotlight. I want people to know that he is not rare or a fluke. He is doing what we should all expect of our youth. I want people to know he is the majority of our youth, not the minority.
Keep in mind that FutureCop is a teenager in Scarsdale and has no idea of what life is really like in low income city neighborhoods. It sounds like you are doing a good job tnuro. There is nothing sensationalistic about the normal hard-working people in the "inner city" (actually I hate that term), who make up the vast majority of the population, so unfortunately they tend to be forgotten.
