Chris Rock did say: "White people would not want to be me, even if I am a millionaire." But you say Chris Rock is ugly, but could you think of a rich Black person whom you would like to be? Then you will truly find out what racism and White privilege truly is.

Actually he said
"There's not a white person reading this book who would change places with me. And I'm rich!" Also said: "Who's more racist: black people or white people. Black people. You know why? Because black people hate black people, too."
Hmmm, Jordan, Cuba Gooding Jr. Yes I wouldnt mind being them.
But again,, if I were poor...
So there you have it,, I am willing to trade your white privilege for rich privileges. Like Crisp said,, I prefer being a black rich person to a white trash. But I prefer being a latino upper class

If I could wave a magic wand and make you into Cuba Gooding Jr. Remember: the process cannot be reversed. Once you find out, everything I have been telling you is the truth, you cannot turn back. Than you say: "Oh, ****, she was right!" But however, White privilege has allowed you, all these years to go on your merry way.

There is a book called "Black Like Me" by John Howard Griffin who put dark makeup on and passed as Black. He found out all about racism and White privilege that he had previously no knowledge of. If you have doubted what I have been telling you, it's not your fault.

I know what you are saying,, but you dont understand what I am saying..
What I am saying is that not ALL WHITE PEOPLE have white privilege...
If a white trailer trash goes to a expensive store, they would be look at with the same eyes to a black ghetto. Now if Cuba Gooding Jr. goes to the same store, they would close the store down just for him... So that he can shop in peace(I would call this RICH PRIVILEGE), and the same with any other white, black, hispanic rich person.

You arguments just get more ridiculous. I guarantee you there are loads of white poor people who would trade places with Cuba, or Oprah, or whomever, and be totally satisfied with there decision.
If you were making the argument that racism still exist and that wealthy people have advantages in life, I would agree with you.
But to say that a really poor white person has more advantages than a wealthy person of color just b/c of something called "white privilege" just is not true. If you polled 100 people in times square and said you can be born a very wealthy person of color or a dirt poor white person, I guarantee you they would say a person of color.

I feel that some good points are being made on both sides of this discussion. The point that supports the 'rich vs. poor' scenario is very well-taken. A well-known black athlete or entertainer would not be received the same way as a poor black person from the hood. ( I suppose the same could be said for a white person in the same situation). This, also, is a "privilege".
I know there is anger within the Black community regarding what is perceived as "white privilege". Sometimes the angers extends to the extreme where if a white person tries to show that he/she is sympathetic to the problem, Black people will work hard to try to discredit that White person, preferring to show that he/she is not really sincere about it. I've seen this, where a portion of the black community would rather maintain that anti-White perspective, and not allow any variation within this "white attitude".
Now, I also feel that it's important to be honest and fair. While I am not a supporter of some of the black militant approach to this question, I also feel it is hard to deny that "white privilege" does exist. Yes, some of the other points made here (I feel) are also extremely valid and true. Discrimination doesn't end with white and black. Minorities, in general, are often targeted in our society. Some of the WASP attitude is that anything other than WASP is to be looked down upon.
But the Black thing, I suppose, has further implications... the fact of those who were brought here to be slaves and the horrible disrespect and poor treatment they received (and continued to receive well after the fact). Again, this did not just end in the USA. We have a noteworthy color disparity among latinos from the Caribbean. Unfortunately, racism was born, and it is a horrible disease. No one race should ever feel it is better than another by virtue of being part of that race.
But, yes, I do agree that Black people face a terrible problem in our society just because they are black. The racist attitude against Blacks is alive and (not) well. It doesn't extend equally to every member of the community, but it's there, even if only in the attitudes of white people.
But it is also true that an accomplished or famous Black person will not experience quite the same degree of racism or discrimination. Unfortunately, many whites have an attitude of disdain toward people just because they are Black. And many Blacks will hate Whites just because they are white.
If anyone cares about the religion of the Bible, they will note that everyone stands before God with the same need of salvation, and simply being White, Black, or anything else will not matter. We are all sinful human beings, none of us being perfect. It will be hard to totally wipe out this racist thing, but thankfully many will prefer not to add to it.
Peace.

This statement makes a good point. When money becomes the issue, unity within the race often takes a back seat. There is a good deal of "black-on-black" crime where money or material goods are the focus.
So...some things may not be all they claim to be.
